Herb's Amp Settings

I most often use either an Evans FET-500 LV amplifier, or a Webb 6-14 GP amplifier. Occasionally I will have opportunity to play through a Peavey Nashville 400 or a Vegas 400. Below are the general settings I use most often for each, given the variations in the rooms I play and whether or not an outboard effects unit is being used:

 

Evans FET-500 LV with Peavey Black Widow 1502-4 speaker

Master Gain   6

Reverb        as needed, usually 5 or 0 if using effects

Depth         on

Expand        off

Bass          6.5

Body          4.5

Treble        1.5

Volume        variable

 

Webb 6-14 GP, with JBL E-130-4 speaker

Volume        variable

Treble        1.5 to 2.5

Midrange      4 to 5

Bass          8.5 to 9.5

Reverb        as needed, usually +/-3.5 or 0 if using effects

Treble boost  off

Bass boost    off

Tone selector 2

Paramid       250-300 (around 9 o'clock)

Shift         800 (around 2 o'clock)

High          0 to -1 or +1

Presence      0 to +3

Reverb        as needed, usually +/-4 (around 10 o'clock)
